Sharing your Lists

You can now share your lists with your family and friends by sending an email to one or more contacts.

This will come in handy when you have a group that you are involved with, such as scout troop, and need to send each person a copy of the list.

To do this, click on the Share icon next to the list you want to share.

A window will appear that allows you to select contacts from your address book or enter a new e-mail address. If you have tagged your contacts, for example Scout Troop, you can select the tag, Scout Troop, and the list will be sent to all people in the tagged group.

You can also add a message in the email.

We are very pleased to announce a new build of Famundo with new features and fixes.

Among the new features and improvements:

New – Email Lists – Lists created in Famundo’s List center can now be e-mailed to one or more contacts stored in Famundo’s Address Book.

Fixed – Family Banner – The top banner is now rendered correctly when being viewed with Internet Explorer 7 or 8 using a screen resolution of 1024 by 768.

Known Apple Mail Issue Fixed

We are pleased to announce that an issue which prevented sending multiple e-mails using Apple Mail has been fixed.

From Famundo’s Address Book:

Select one or more contacts checking the check box in front of each name.
Click on Send E-mail.

Apple Mail will launch with the selected contacts in the recipient fields.

Wells Fargo vSafe and Famundo Family Vault

I just received an announcement about vSafe, a new service that Wells Fargo Bank is offering its customers for storing copies of vital records and documents. They are offering 1GB of storage space for $4.95/month.

vSafe is described as “secure online storage for you to safeguard, organize, and access electronic copies of important documents—from birth certificates and immunization records to wills and treasured photos.”

Famundo and Internet Explorer 8

Many users have noticed issues with the older version of Famundo and Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 8.

There is a compatibility setting in Internet Exlporer 8 that will resolve these issues.

In Internet Explorer 8

Go to Tools > Compatibility View Settings

Enter famundo.com into the Add this website: window and click on Add

Click on Close

You can now view your Famundo site in compatibility mode.

Family-friendly Social Networking

When we set out to design Famundo Social, we surveyed our users for ideas on what would make Famundo work better for them. Many of their suggestions are incorporated in this new release.

One of the things we heard over and over again was the need for families to be able to interact with their extended family and friends in a manner, similar to Facebook or Myspace, but in a family-friendly, safe and secure environment. With parents having control over who their children can or cannot be friends with. With grandkids and grandparents having the ability to communicate with each other without having to set up an e-mail account.

The result is the “Social” part of Famundo Social. Here is a short flash movie that gives a overview on how this works.

Families are busy today. We tend to get caught up in our own lives and let our relationships with friends and our extended families fall through the cracks. We hope Famundo Social can help bring you together again.

Planned Maintenance Notice

This is to inform you that on Sunday August 30, 2009 at ~ 6 PM PDT we will be performing some work on our core router. The data center network and the connection to the internet will be affected. It will be down for ~ 5 minutes if all goes as planned. We do not anticipate any trouble, but if we encounter problems it might extend the time a little longer. Famundo in SmartComputing

Famundo is featured in the print edition of SmartComputing magazine!

Famundo, a social networking site for families, allows parents to set up a family account for theirselves and their children, and then the parents can control who their online friends are. Parents can opt to be friends with the families of schoolchildren’s classmates, grandparents, and other extended family.
