Sorry I haven’t posted recently, but I have been “staying classy” at the NECC (National Educational Computing Conference) in San Diego, and had nothing but trouble getting internet access in my hotel room. (my nightmare hotel experience could be the subject of another article sometime in the future, but I won’t bore you with the details here)
NECC was a huge show and Famundo created quite a buzz. I didn’t have much time to visit the other exhibitors, since we were so busy, so I really don’t have any new finds to report about.
It seems that there were a ton of CMS {Classroom Management System) solutions. One thing I want to make clear is that Famundo for Organizations is not a replacement for CMS, but rather an enhancement. We are the outward facing solution, the organizations face to the public, whether that be parents, students, parishoners, or whatever.
The idea behind Famundo is that the more organizations in you community that use Famundo, the easier it will be for you to aggregate the events that are important to you into your personal Famundo for Families calendar.
What we are about is building stronger, closer communities, one calendar at a time. The more organizations in your community that use Famundo, the more connected your community will become. There were a number of attendees at the conference that not only want to use Famundo for their schools, but also for their churches, scout troops and soccer teams.
Let your community organizations know about Famundo. The can sign up now by visiting the following link: Sign Up Here.

Happy 4th of July to everyone. I may be taking the day off tomorrow, (or maybe the muse will strike, you never know.)
There is a parade that goes down our street in the afternoon which has been a family tradition since before our daughter was born, 11 years ago, and then fireworks at the local high school in the evening.
On Wednesday, we are off to the NECC (National Educational Computing Conference) in San Diego, where again we will be demoing our newly released version of Famundo for Organizations. The response has been VERY positive so far.
We’ll be releasing an update very soon with lots of new features.
A little background on where we all came from. For the past 10 or so years, we have been deeply involved in producing a very successful application that enables businesses to manage their relationships (CRM, to be specific). After leaving our former company, we felt that since families are very similar to business workgroups, we could offer a solution that would dramatically benefit families in their family management. We coined it FRM, Family Relationship Management, and thus was born Famundo.
Our family version, Famundo for Families will be released very soon. To be informed of it’s release, sign up here.
Please let all the community organizations you are involved with like schools, churches, scout, etc, know about Famundo for Organizations. It is FREE and offers great fundraising opportunities.

We are showing off Famundo for Organizations this weekend at the National PTA Conference in Phoenix, AZ. (boy is it HOT here, 109 today!!!)
There are a lot of cool exhibitors here and I’ll report on them over the next few days.
This one really caught my eye, CommonSenseMedia.org is a site that offers reviews on all kinds of media, films, TV, games, web sites, music, books and more, by families, kids and the CommonSenseMedia editors.
It is a really good resource.
I like their mission statement, it really says it all:
“To give parents, educators, and kids a choice and a voice about the media they consume.”
They also have a blog, CommonSenseMediaBlog which has very timely articles.
