Some more recent Famundo press mentions

Posted by Richard Kuhlenschmidt Tue, 18 Mar 2008 00:03:00 GMT

In addition to the recent Ericsson and Hitched Magazine articles below, we’ve had quite a few other press other mentions recently that I have been remiss on reporting about.

Here is a rundown:

Geek Sugar

... Famundo has received a lot of attention lately for being a great option for families. They call themselves a “family hub” and hope to replace your wall calendar, address book, filing cabinet, fridge magnets and yellow sticky notes. Famundo offers Outlook synchronization, a list maker and even a family library for storing your documents, photos, bookmarks and other personal information

The Online Family

Who it’s for: Busy moms who need their calendar software to serve as a digital daily planner. Famundo includes a list-making feature, address book, family homepage and a “vault,” an encrypted storage space where you can store important documents such as medical records. “Famundo has great customer support and is perfect for families,” says Valentina Sgro, a professional organizer.

Pocket-Lint

It’s fair to say that if you’re office-based, you’re probably fairly intimate with your desktop calendar. How many times have you wished you could get your whole family or circle of friend hooked up to it too? This might be what you’ve been wishing for.

Reno Gazette-Journal

Got kids? Got more activities than you can keep track of? Famundo is a free online calender and planning center that enables every member of your family to post outings, messages, appointments, reminders, lists and more—kind of like Microsoft Outlook, but with easy multiple user functionality (and it syncs with Outlook if you’re already heavily invested there). One really nice feature: When plans change, instead of deleting or editing an appointment on the calendar, just drag it to the new time. There’s also an address book and even space for a family blog and photographs you can invite others to view.

PC World

This one is in Danish, but here is a rough translation:

Do you want to be able to manage your family life? Then look into Famundo. With it’s calendar, to-do lists, address book—Famundo has it all. You and your family can keep track of soccer practice, shopping at K-mart, even your 40th birthday.

Creating password protected blogs

Posted by Richard Kuhlenschmidt Tue, 11 Mar 2008 03:00:00 GMT

One of the most frequent questions we get about our new blog feature in Famundo for Organizations is if teachers can make their blogs password protected, so it is NOT visible to the general public. The answer to this is YES, just like everything else in Famundo, there are multiple levels of security.

Let me explain how this is done.

First thing you need to do it to add a Member Group. This will create a username and password that your students can use to log in to view your blog.

Go to Setup > Organization Settings > Members

Click on Add > Add New Group Member

Login Name: this is the username for logging in.

Name: give this group member a name.

Password: this is the password for logging in.

Confirm Password: confirm your password.

Click on Save

Now, you can proceed to create your blog, which only your newly created Members can view.

Click on the Blogs tab on the top banner.

Click on Add Blog (you can also create a new blog by clicking on Add Article)

Assign to: you can assign this to your school or any other user (this means if it is Edit Access = Private, only the Assigned to user can edit the blog)

Name: enter a name for your blog.

Edit Access: enter who you will allow to edit this blog.

View Access: All Staff and Members only (this will insure that the public will not be able to view this blog)

This blog will be viewable by those with Member credentials and above. The public will not be able to view it.

Your students can now visit your Famundo site, log in with the username and password you created above, and view your new blog.
