Adding Google Maps to Famundo Events

You can add a Google map link to your events by simply entering the address where the event will occur in the Location field of the Add Event dialog box.

This will create a little icon in the event details which when clicked on, will bring up a Google map.

If you are logged in to Famundo and have entered your address in the Setup > My Settings > Personal Details tab, you will be given driving directions.

If your Personal Details is blank, or if you are a public viewer, you will be given a map of the location.

We are very pleased to announce a new build of Famundo with many new features and fixes.

Among the new features and improvements:

New – Blank Slate – Usage and Getting Started options are displayed when a new user signs up or when an existing logged in user clicks on “Welcome (username)” on the Famundo banner.

New – Google Maps for Events – Addresses entered into the Location field in an Event dialog will appear as link to a Google map.

Show Map if logged-in if user did not enter his/her address.

Show Driving directions if logged-in user entered his/her address, which is used as the Starting address.

New – Google Maps for Address Book (Famundo for Families) – Addresses entered into a contact’s record will appear as a link to a Google map.

Improved – Embedded Calendar – Embedded calendar has many enhancements including event details tool tip, calendar legend, navigation icons.

Improved – ability to expand Quick Event dialog – Quick Event dialog can be expanded to include more event details.

Invite your friends to use Famundo

Famundo for Families users may have noticed a new hyperlink on their Famundo banner when the logged in today, Invite.

This link will open a window where you can send an invitation to your friends and family to sign up for their own Famundo account.

The more friends and family using Famundo, the more your Famundo community grows!

Importing Entourage calendar data into Famundo

I really have to thank one of our new users for this invaluable tip. She is a Mac user and wanted to know how to get her Entourage data into Famundo.

I have to admit I don’t use the Mac very often, so after looking over Entourage, it appeared to me that Microsoft doesn’t make it easy to get your data out of Entourage. You can export your contacts in tab delimited format, but as far as calendar data, you can only export in the Entourage archive format.

Our new user wrote back to me let me know that Apple’s iCal program can actually import Entourage calendar data. Once it is in iCal it can easily be exported and then imported into Famundo.

And, according to her, “It worked great!”

True Stories - Our Favorite Movies

Hi Famundo

This is hardly earth shattering, but we’ve been using Famundo’s List Manager to keep a list of all movies we want to rent. Whenever I or anyone else in the family thinks of a movie we would like to see, we put it on our Famundo Movie List.

When it come time to order from Netflix, we just look at the list and add them to our cue.

Now you guys need a link to Netflix so I can order directly from Famundo ;-)
