Put "Get Organized" on top of your list of New Years Resolutions.

Posted by Richard Kuhlenschmidt Fri, 28 Dec 2007 16:54:00 GMT

New Years is the time of year when we make a list of promises or “resolutions” to improve our lives in the upcoming year. Getting organized always seems to be near the top of everyone’s list (just underneath losing weight) but by mid-January, these resolutions are often long forgotten.

But this year when you put Get Organized on your list, you’ve got some help, Famundo.

Famundo is made to help you organize your life. It’s got a calendar for everyone in the family, a place to make list of things you need to buy and do, and an address book where you can keep track of your family and friends. You can send your self reminders so you never forget important events and, you can keep your important files and document in a super safe vault.

So this year, put Sign up for Famundo on the top of your list. The rest will be easy.

Making it easier to share your photos and lists

Posted by Richard Kuhlenschmidt Fri, 14 Dec 2007 22:49:00 GMT

We’ve just added an enhancement which makes it easier to share your photos and lists with family and friends. You can now select one or more contacts from your address book and even select a tagged group of contacts.

Here is how it works. Let’s say you are a scoutmaster for your child’s scout troop. You may have a campout coming up and you’ve prepared a packing list for the campout.

You have already added all of the scout families into your address book and tagged each one of then with the tag, Scouts.

Now you can create your list and select Share from the list menu. This will bring up a new window with all contact from your address book, along with your tagged groups.

Select the tagged group Scouts and click on the Share button and your list will be e-mailed to everyone in your scout troop.

Similarly, once you get back from your campout, you can upload your photos into Famundo’s photo album and using the same Share screen, select the Scouts tag again. Everyone in your scout troop will now be able to view and download the campout photos.

Share your holiday photos with family and friends

Posted by Richard Kuhlenschmidt Tue, 11 Dec 2007 17:44:00 GMT

Just in time for the holidays, we have made some enhancements to the Famundo Photo Albums.

Viewers can now click on an image to pull up a larger version of the image on display.

Also, unlike other photo sites which force you to use their photo printing services, we allow the viewer to download the image in a variity of formats. They can then use their photo printing service of choice or simply store the digital image.

Say cheese! ;-)

True Stories - Syncing Famundo with Outlook

Posted by Richard Kuhlenschmidt Tue, 04 Dec 2007 02:46:00 GMT

We asked one of our early adopters write about his experiences with Famundo’s new Outlook Sync Plugin.

I have to admit I was a bit hesitant to use Famundo’s sync plugin at first. Both my wife and I use our Blackberries to keep our work schedules on but since we have been using Famundo for several months now, I have been keeping most of our families schedule in it. I know that the whole idea of using Famundo is to keep everyone on the same page, but when it actually came down to syncing, it made me kind of nervous.

But I finally got up the courage to give it a try, allowing myself plenty of time if anything got messed up and, in a word, it worked great!

I want to let you know the steps I took in hopes that I can help other people who are considering using it.

First, since most of my family events were in Famundo it was a no brainer to start with my Famundo calendars as my master calendar. I installed the Famundo Outlook Sync Plugin and did what is called a Recover, which refreshed all of the Outlook data with data from my Famundo. This was a very quick process, even though I have over 1,000 events in Famundo.

Then I used the Blackberry software to sync all my Outlook data into my Blackberry. Again, it worked great!

I did the same from my wife’s computer, using her Famundo login in the sync plugin and brought the family’s events into Outlook.

Now came the acid test. Since my wife schedules her work appointments in her Blackberry, we needed to sync both ways. I set up her Famundo sync profile so that the events that come from Outlook are assigned to her. And viola! When we ran sync between Famundo and her Outlook, all the events that were on her Blackberry came into Famundo as HER appointments.

There are a few problems that I noticed. First, Outlook and the Blackberry only have one calendar. When all the Famundo calendars are brought in, there is no way to distinguish whom the event belongs to. So what I have been doing is adding the family member’s name at the beginning of the event description in Famundo, so when it comes into Outlook, it lets you know who the event is for. This might be something you should look into in the future.

The other thing is that if you schedule an event in Outlook, you can only assign it to one calendar when you sync back to Famundo. So you really can’t add events for other family members unless you want to go into Famundo later and change them. So what I do is schedule everything in Famundo and there is no problem.

Famundo is great! Thanks again.
